My fiance is a convert and we are planning to get married, but was told that he needs to have an Islam convert certificate for our marriage here. He converted months ago in America. Where does he need to go to get the cert? Or maybe is there a way for him not to have the cert and still continue with our marriage here?

I knw that under the Islamic Law there isnt such a thing ..but was wondering why does Singapore made it as a compulsory thing?

Anyone with experience on this or know anyone that has gone through it..do share it with me :)
Just want to know the procedures that he needs to go through.

Thanks in advance!

i'm a free thinker. i dont want to convert.
I heard that there is civil court which allows a marriage between malay and chinese without me converting.

But does it mean she has to convert to non-muslim?
