Is it true pple tend to look down at single old woman?

More than often, single woman with >35+ of age are less likely to seen as desirable as a to-be wife. The term used to them like have already "left on the shelf" or simply old maid. This can cause tremendous fear in most ladies that some tend to try "grab" a guy quickly at younger age.

Well hana123, it's the real world, not just the women>35+ years of age, even divorced women with children may find themselves neglected with negatives perceptions by the public as 'second-hand' or 'failed-wife'. I guess this stems from the women-for-rights ideology, either you get one before it's too late or you're neglected by others as well as 'only-the-best-will succeed. Career, assets, beauty etc..I remember watching this lecture by Abdur Raheem Green on this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.... Do watch the show with an open mind, and reflect on some his main points which is related to your question. He may be right and/or wrong, but the society, I agreed is going towards the path he has mentioned. More rights, less obligation, more independence, less conservative, more freedom, less reflection. Where is the right path....?

As for me, initially I thought that Islam had a problem with polygamy(god-forbid). Western critics insisted all the time Islam allow the marriage up to 4 wives, which sounds opressing because the muslim law says so ans so. But if you read the Quran without commentary or hadith, I find it strange later, as the verse was explaining to the marriage of women in two, three and four to the problems of taking care of the orphans. This was IN FEAR that you would be unjustful to them( orphans) (Quran 4:6). There is beauty in the Quran as the start of the verse is "If you fear...", and the Quran emphasizes the obligation of helping and taking care of orphans (Quran chpt 107:2, 93:9, 6:152). In fact, in the same verse, the men should marry one (4:6) if he could not deal justly with them. YET, instead, what does the scholars, and imams, and islam propagandist insisted to the verse? It's almost the orphans are out of the picture and the whole topic comes to polygamy ? I slowly going through many such as this issue, despite consternation from my circle of family and friends.
