Q. Child Custody - Help

Salams to all my bro and sis,

Thank you for having such an interactive forum.

I need some kind of an advise or answer.

My wife had filed for a divorce and we are now waiting for the meeting with the mediator. we have agreed to have a joint custody of our daugher and she had even indicate that on the form filed earlier and signed.

Recently, i heard from some sources that her mom is engaging a lawyer to get the the sole custody for our daughter.

Question is: Will syariah court allow that to happen after we had signed off the forms during our first meeting at syariah court?

Please help!

salam

if ur wife hires a lawyer, yes the court may issue the custody to ur wife.

I suggest that u get urself a lawyer. In singapore, syriah court is still following civil law (a portion of it) so the woman's chapter in singapore is strong.

Men practically has no say in a way. U can call darul arqam for legal advice.

Salaam Bro..

From my understanding, there is NO WAY a parent can have sole custody of the child, unless the Father has abused the child and the court finds it hazardous for the Child to have joint custody for both parents. The Court discourages sole custody as this will deny the Child from having both parents love and care. The Divorce is between parents, and not the child and parents..

Hope my humble info helps.......
