Joint Madrasah School
Hi Cool Dude,
Setting aside the politics and religion for now, the reason for such need in restructuring JMS is to close the gap of the Muslim minority in Singapore with other communities in Singapore. This is especially in the field of education and social standing. I am not embarrassed, but yet sad, to say that Muslim community is well behind other major or minor racial minorities in terms of education or standing. The social impact is great, and as a Malay Muslim in Singapore, I can feel the financial gap between lower and middle income families in Singapore, which in long term run, unhealthy and worrisome.
The teaching in the Quran does not hinder national or economical progress and social standing (at least in ways of righteousness). The main causes are the Muslims seeing these progresses as a hindrance of social devotion to the life of ¡¥hereafter¡¦. I feel it as a sickness though, makes a Muslim so selfish and irresponsible people as compared to the strict duty given from God to his All his believers;
¡§Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah.¡¨
Al-Qur'an, [003.110] Aal-E-Imran [The Chapter of the Family of Imran]
Yet sadly, how many Muslims these days are doing their best to be such ¡¥respectable¡¦ people in the society? Today Muslim¡¦s are like doing the same story around the world like ¡§blame the negative media, blame the West, blame this, blame that¡K¡¨.Is that the teachings of all prophets or from the Quran and all scriptures to mankind? :( ƒ¼
I believe any improvement is better than status quo. Like all initiatives, nothing will be without criticism and we ened to look beyond those and be positive about what is happening. It is for the better, Insya'Allah.
