Religious Class

I am confused. Muslims say that there is not enough religious classes in Singapore. When we conduct one, not many show up. It is indeed challenging for the Ustad & the organizers. We offer classes for free, yet not may show up. What is wrong here ? How can we improve what we are doing to benefit more Muslims?

Hi Mehboob,

There's nothing wrong with the organizers or blaming anyone for the lack of participation. Organizing live event is costly, and requires strong and creative groups/ committie to spread to the muslim voice and news around Singapore of an event. I would say that the unity of organization of the muslims in Singapore is not very responsive for a start, especially with the challenge and difference of gap in age, culture and thought among different muslim groups. Tackling the problem by creating a 'hub' of muslim news is a good start you know :)

Maybe if you are into promoting of da'wa in Singapore you can do something creative and innovative, a good example would be the website thedeenshow.com. I feel thedeenshow.com is an interesting concept of understanding and learning to muslims as a method of promoting good da'wa. Online videos and e-learning source is a good idea to promote muslim self-awareness among muslims, example if local ustazs can contribute some good articles and post it on the web. Internet is the hub of information today, it's also where you can gather all the different muslim groups together and spread ideas, and eventually organize strong events or lectures.

Hi Mehboob,

Other than promoting about your event, I felt that organising committee need to understand SG Muslims needs.

So far I've not seen a single mosque or any Islamic Organisations done any survey. I believed no one interested to know what is the availability of Muslims in the mosque neighbourhood to attend any event. Mostly assume that people are available during weekends and favourite time is after Mahgrib or Isya'. How about attendee topic of interest?

Just my 2cents...
