Q. Recomend religious classes

W'salaam appolle,

1) There are a few option in this day and age. One way is to go to the mosque. Just call up a mosque near you to enquire about class that they run. Normally these classes will be at night or on a weekend. (in my hunble opinion these classes are fairly one way...no space of discussion other bizzar thoughts . Someone can correct me if im wrong)

2) Another option is to watch lectures online. If you are into the English lecture, there are many well known speakers that you can watch online. There are links, i believe on nb lounge on list of islamic sites and lecture/ videos that Fariz recently asked.

3) surround yourself with good Muslim friends.

4) Read the quran as sugested by Fariz. Not sure abt other language, but a simplified english translation would be agood place to start. ( try not to get those in classical english) The other thing to note about reading tafsir (translation) is a need for a teacher to be there to answer your questions. What some people do is to have a circle of friends to come together (instead of having a teacher) for about 1hr or so and discuss the translation of selected verse in the quran. That way you can increase your knowledge and don't get bored or clue less when you read something in there. If you do come across something which neither of your friends can answer, then it is time to bring up those question to someone who is more knowledgeble.

Pehaps some of our memebers here might like to form such circle or there might be already an existing one.?

5) If you have lost touch with prayers, the best way is to start. It's better to do the smaller stuff consistently rather then trying to do the bigger things but not consistent.

ps: a note about learning Islam on websites. There are plenty of websites out there that teaches you about Islam. however be wary coz some of the teachings are not consistent to the Quran and sunnah.
