On weekends, a typical singaporean like me would go to shopping mall, watch movies, eat out..
But I want to find other places that is interesting, fun yet very cheap..

Anyone knows of any?

In Singapore, there is/are limited space(s) for entertainment. Not suprising as to why typical singaporean spend more of their time shopping and eating as their hobby or past time :) Unless you're into other forms of hobbies, probably Singapore could offer limited in places. Not suprising why Singaporeans now prefer to go holidays overseas :)

Arts and performance festivals could be an alternative. The Esplanade near city hall offer cultural and music festivals and performace once in a while. The EXPO, located in the east of singapore, and SUNTEC exhibition hall at the city hall area regularly offers fairs, seminars and exhibitions in monthy basis. Do check out the news and papers during your free time to check out the latest news from these mentioned places.

Otherwise, do start thinking on overseas trips during holidays :)

Maybe there aint any interesting places, but there might be interesting things to do. try picking up a new hobby. something challenging. something different, u might not even think of it in the first place but dare yourself to do it. it could be a sport or even performing arts..you might not know that trying new things and challenging yourself will give u the adrenaline rush which will excite you. who knows it might be better than just watching movies and going to malls. and its definitely gd for the body and mind.

u can always go the museum. try visiting the malay heritage centre.

museum entry is 4bucks per adult, 3bucks for above 60yo and kids between 3 to 7yo.
every wednesday, 3.30 to 4.30, there's the cultural show. hands-on. basically you'll have a chance to try the muical instruments and the malay dance.

you can also sign up for the batik painting or pottery classes held by Pak Sarkasi and Cikgu Iskandar respectively.

after which, you can walk around bussorah street to be immerse in the first settlement of the malays. great bargains too can be found there too.

=)
