Dress Code for Muslim Women
Islam dint specific exactally wht kinda of dressing is allowed for muslim woman as well as men. this is because people live in different cultures thus will have a different way of dressing. islam do give us a guideline as to wht to look out for in dressing up modestly. There's nothing wrong with so call western dressing as long as it covers the basic criteria.
there's a disput however with the 'hijab' or veil. if it was really wht islam prescribe. that would be another lengthy discussion.
(1) The BEST garment is the garment of righteousness.
(2) Whenever you dress , cover your chest (bosoms).
<some say its to cover your hair and chest because of the hadith>
(3) Lengthen your garment.
(4) no tight clothing or revealing shear fabric

There's heaps more abt this online, but i feel its best to take things moderately and not to the extreme. we gals know wht happends to women who dress 'islamically' to the extreme. ;)
Waz,
Malay Muslim women in the west wear long skirts/pants and blouse. They wear 'baju kurung' for gathering among the Malays, Hari Rayas. You are lucky if you can get someone to sew the 'baju kurung' for you. The 'baju kurung' is usually ship to them. Or whenever they go back to visit.
As regard to veil, it depends on where you are working. Example like a policewoman or nurse in SG, they don't wear scarf, but cover their head after duty. The same goes with some women here.
As for 'baju bengali' they can buy them at the Pakistan/Indian community.
Hrmm...what is 'baju kurung' and 'baju bengali'. for the sake of our none-malays members here. :D thanks
