Q. Too early to make clothes for Hari Raya ?

Hari Raya is about 6 month away. Is it too early to place order for customised Hari Raya clothes ? When is the right time anyway ? Have you ever had bad experience with tailoring services for your Raya clothes.

It's never to late to tailor Hari Raya clothes. I'm not sure when is the right time to place orders, but i do have bad experiences with tailors. I tailored my wedding dress with a lady and it was horrific!! I didn't get the dress on time until the very last minute on the day my flight was booked to go to Singapore (for my wedding). Even so, the fitting wasn't right and the cut was just wrong. I never went back to her again!

I can also tell you about the numerous disasters on behalf of my mum. She tailors alot. Same thing. the tailor wrecked her baju kurung. It wasn't fitting. Was too small for her and she used one of her most sentimental material which she have kept for 20 over years to make her special baju kurung! She cried when she saw what the tailor had done to her precious cloth. Similar things happened to her time and time again.

I wonder how can tailors do such a thing although they have taken accurate measurements of their client. Tailors like only make other tailor look incompetitnt. That is why i'll rather buy my clothes rather than tailor them.

The only tailor which blew me away was one at Kampong melayu ( beside a beauty spa/ message). Her sewing was awsome. My baju's finishing looks more like it was bought rather then tailored. And i paid $150 for it. Well worth it.

Ps: do u have a website? Do you sew western style dresses?

I dun really think it's too early. I already sent mine for tailoring. LOL~ But I think it's at least better to be earlier than later right? You never know what 'incidents' might happen. What if you can't get it fixed in time? Oh, the horror!

But just ensure your baju is what you really want. No last minute changes. Make up your mind quick.

And oh! the most important thing. Keep yourself in shape. You don't want after all the tailoring you've done, you find that it's a little tight here, and there.
