Where to begin???
One place to start is Singaporebrides.com. It's quite extensive. There's a forum where you can ask around. There in fact, if I remember, a forum for intermarriage couples (e.g. muslim marry chinese etc...) You can get help from them, for those who are experiencing such issues and neede advise and help.
Ive attempted to answer this question 2x and ialys end up loosing everything i typed in bcoz my browser decide to FREEZE! tht why this reply took a long time to come by.
arrr....
Anywyas...yea look this site has good recourses. I was in your position a few year back. Didn;t know where to go to find information for my wedding. i had only 3 months to plan for my wedding before my nikah and walimah day. i was in Melbourne planning my wedding, calling weding vanues, caterers, booking my course day for my pre-marriage course which is mandotory, ( i think it serves no use to a couple to have those courses tho) i book with ROMM the kadi and my nikah day. you can do it online.
That's the first thing to do, book your nikah day. Go to ROMM website and book a date. 2nd book your marriage course. after which you can start your weddding shopping :)
so you have 1 yr..i think more than enough time.
I went to a few malay wedding planner services..those butique ones. they are expensive. You can get them to do everything, the planning or you can get some of their services which they offer.
I on the other hand planned everything without a planner and i didn;t go for those expensive boutique. It really depends on if you wanna start your marriage with a good amount of savings in your hand..or go in debt :S.
I wasn;t going to blow all our money for my wedding. But i was determine to have an enjoyable simple but elegant wedding.
this link has my answer to my wedding preparation together with the wedding service provider who i hired to do things like decor, catering, make-up..etc.

I found that a cheaper better service alternative on Multiply. If you go on NB lounge multiply site under their buddies..there are some wedding service provider there which you might wanna hook up with. Avoid boutique wedding services at all cost :P

I'm getting engaged soon in January and both my fiance and I are planing to get married. As we have been together for more than 2 years, we intend to get married in a year or so but I really don't know where to begin. Should I hire a wedding planner? How much would it cost me? And does she/he plan right down from the basics or do I have to crack my head still???
