My sister in law is getting married in July. She's not from Singapore or India but will be living her married life in India.
So i'm really wondering what i should get her for a wedding gift. Money is probably the easiest but i'm assuming she has enough cash. She will be living with her in-laws, so homeware is not essential.
was thinking in the lines of jewellery, but tht's too personal since i might screw up if don't get something to her taste. so any ideas?
tks
A book? lol...
hmmmm... shoes? all you need to do is enquire abt her shoe size..
and you know us gals.. the whole shoe fetish thing... right?
haha.
a toaster? hahahaahh lol sorry... so conventional
a painting would be really nice. love artwork... something original that'll stand out...
better yet.. all of the above!
lol...
No, I don't think jewellery is too personal at all. Something simple like a simple gold bracelet or even earrings. Depends if she wears the hejab, maybe a beautiful headscarff?
Hmmm, a nice saree? For me...I love one of those products from 'Bath and body works', a woman can't get pampered enough! A nice giftpack filled with bath products, lotion, shower foam etc. would be nice... :)
Or, you can't go wrong with a spa treatment for a woman, manicure, pedicure the works, every woman deserves to have one at least once in her life! ;)
Thanks guys for the reply.
i thought abt the bath product..however the in-laws do not have a bath tub. and not sure if she has the time for manicure and tht kinda things.
but i'll look into the jewellery. but still doubtful as to if she'll wear anything or not. yea a painting would be nice. maybe i can buy her material? I know they love buying material and they will tailor it for salwa khamees. Yea saree sounds nice. hrmm...some idea developing there.
Hrmm tks. suggest in more if anyone else can.
well, you could get her a bedroom sheet set complete with the comforter. all dept stores have nice soft ones, some with reasonable cost. do good for her as well as hubby, cos she also need a change of bedsheet and pillow covers.
v durable........
hrmm..tht is an interesting suggestion. but i can get really beautiful sheet set with quilt covers. tks.
Hmm to say real
i tink the best thing is juz make something personal item from u

tks for the ideas guys, i came to a conclusion got some ideas form some of the post here.
I got a few things for her
1) i bought a full bed sheet set, a quilt cover set and the sheet set for the inside.
2) i saw some nice jewellery, so i got a necklace with a earring set. (semi precious stones)
3) i got them a one day stay in the best room there is at Marriot hotel in India. ( i think this was the best gift she received which both of them could enjoy.)
The thing is jewellery is a very common gift for an indian bride, especially gold. i'm unsure why this is so or the history behind it. So i try not to give gold again and i still think jewellery comes down to personal choice and taste, like i will only wear a certain type of designer jewellery, just like our choice of clothes is personal to our taste.
so thank you all again for your suggestion.
