Q. Decoration/Caterer

dear all,
I am planning to have my wedding outdoors. Hence i need a decor company with a marquee/tents... any ideas where i can get such decor company? If so how much would it cost?

Also im planning to find caterer that can cater to 300-400 guests and includes, berkat, cake and helpers maybe even card.. expensive or not?
im not sure how much they all will cost together...

In addition to that... for the costumes.. i would to include perhaps a gown... but the gown these days are so sexy and not suitable for majlis with aunties and uncles... like soo malu and tak hormat.. is there a place/company that have more modern clothes but at the same time not too revealing?

thanks!

Go to a wholesaler itself rather than a wedding boutique for tents. I had my wedding with tents. as well. I went looking for my receipt for this question.

I went with Masakan Shaik Sabri for the tents and the food. Some members here might not agree with me on this coz the had a bad experience with Masakan Shaik Sabri. But these kinda stuff happends when you are not careful in your dealing with wedding vendors.

Anwyays, Alhamdullilah we had great food and a slight mis understanding with the tent guys, but my dad was quick to get them to deliver wht they promissed.

-So my tent was 20ftx20ft. Warm lighting, 2 ceiling fans and white inner lining.
-Gazebo of size 10ftx10ft warm light, 1 ceiling fan and white lining
- plywood flooring of size 12ftx 18ft
-carpeting of size 12ft x 18 ft

Total cost $1200

You can try yellow pages and go straight to the sourse coz these wedding vendors do that as well. A few chinese ppl will come and fix up your tent.

Even your tables and chairs you can do that.

As for ur baju and the costumes...design your own. There are again plenty of wedding boutiques which have lovely custumes tht are decent, but cost alot. For me i went to the tailor and get it done. Grab a wedding magazine..look at some design buy the material. go to Johor Baru and get those gorgeous material and tailor them. but a precaution, tailor it in singapore. If u want a professional finish.

By the way if the costume are translucent you can request for something inside. But i don;t go for wedding boutiques coz they are just too expensive. It's cheaper for me to DIY( do it yourself). Get ur friends and relatives to help you out in this. u know delegate some task so that you can get things done quicker and w/o the stress.

You can search for 'Kenderat' ( helper to serve the food) or better still pay some student for extra buck to be a kendarat. why Didn;t i think of that.

Cakes:
Go to a hotel and order cakes for 300-400pax. Do not compromise on your cake! :) and make sure you tell them no alcohol.

Hrmm.. for berkat...i ordered cup cakes for mine just for the kids. and i got perfume in those little bottle for the adults in different cent for male and female. search for door gifts and you can find many different kinds.

all the best

Hello Sultana

Thanks for the detailed description!! I really appreciate it.. :)
So u think its better for me to get the tents from wholesalers/companies in yellow pages huh rather then going through lets say decor companies?...

where did u get urs from? its quite an affordable price. My friend told me that it could cost up to 2000-3000!! super expensive...

Mind giving me the contacts? Thanks a LOT!!

Had a bad experience with masakan sheik sabri. I ordered food for 50 on new year's eve-31/dec. Food came at 7pm.At 8pm,beehoon was found spoilt after my first guest of mine complained about it. I tried and then put the whole thing aside. I complained the next day to the staff who picked up the items and also to the boss. The whole tray was full and uneaten with the cling wrap still on,and they said they will get back to me. Got no response, so I called them back on 15 jan. They wanted me to pick up the replacement from bedok. Is it worth the trouble as i am staying in the Holland area? I said 'NO'. A staff was extremely rude and also raised his voice and said that I should have informed them on the spot and check when the food was sent. Now, who would try all the food at one go? - Jay
