Exercise as a way of life?
Cola Max,
You should refer to my other forum on fitness and bodybuidling. Like i had mention in the other forum, fitness and bodybuidling, whatever your goal is, its a lifetime commitement, giving up does not help at all. And worse the feeling you get, when you have to start all over again, sucks! Its combination of healthy diet and loads of hardwork at the gym. To be honest, I still battle with lovehandles, but it has shrunk over the years. To have a good body you dream of, think of a achievable target, set for three mths or so. Workout at least 3-4 times a week, combine aerobics like running or anything that makes you sweat with weigts training. Start with small weigts and work your way up, do not expect results immediately, you will get fitter and healtier by time. There will be days you just wanna give up, but remember your goal, to have that rock hard body.
If you need more advise please refer to

I suggest you read more about fitness and ask around at the gym, make mistakes and learn from it.
I stared out from scratch, made thousands of mistakes and still making it, but I am quite happy with my achievments over the last 5 years.
Cheers
If you find that doing extra workouts are a burden. Why not incorporating fitness in simple daily tasks. Instead of using the lift, climb the stairs. Or maybe scrub the floor instead of using the mop.
I suggest you get this book called "Keeping Fitness Simple" by Porter Shimer.

Background:
I used to be very skinny as a teenager and used to do a lot of sport. And around this time I started doing some weights at home and push ups, sit ups etc. My teenage body responded very quickly and insipte of a diet that consisted of lots of sugary stuff, sodas, fatty indian food etc. i put on some nice definition.
As i moved to college, i stopped weights etc. but got heavily involved in A grade cricket, which consisted of a lot of stamina building type of training; running, sprints etc. Again I never concentrated much on diet and kept in reasonable shape due to being active in sport.
Once i finished college, my sport activity stopped. no gym. But my diet remained the same. and i was no longer a teenager with a good metabolism.. guess what? I packed on the fat. Didn't become a slob.. but went from fit person. to yucky love handles. to an ugly tummy and slight man boobs :).
One day i woke up and decided that being like this was a choice and i was going to do something about it. Started eating cleaner, cut the soda, did weights and cardio, for a good year and got back to reasonable shape, except the ugly love handles. i hate them. they're the first place you put on fat, and the last place you'll lose fat.
anyway after about a year, i lost some motivation and have become erratic in going to gym etc. irregular in playing sport and my body also has responded with ups n downs. At the moment im slowly starting to go back to the fat me..
My Question:
I know you can't spot reduce, but does fitness have to become a way of life to have a fit trim body? I can accept that healthy eating IS a lifestyle choice.. not something you do as a temporary 'diet'. But what about exercise?
What are the things you can do that would not take up a lot of time? I don't mind putting in effort for short periods of time every other day. But living your life around long and hard workouts everyday is not something i want to do. I have a job that requries me to sit and work in front of a computer. and i love the work i do. i play sport. but i have other priorities that I can't place below / dedicate lesser time to, than long regular workouts and exercise most days of the week.
I may come across sounding like i want a magic pill. that i don't acknowledge that hard work is the only way to lose fat, but I'm not. I want to be real. Mayeb things that you can incorporate into your everyday routine of life that add up over time to keep you fit. or things like that..
