Q. Using gemstones to heal:Syirik?

My mum saw a tv program recently in which a person claimed that certain stones have healing properties..magnet have helaing properties etc.

It was a Malaysian program and the show was about traditional healing methods used in Malay and Muslim communities in Malaysia.

According to her, the show seemed to suggest that gemstones are able to heal due to some scientific propeties like their energy level and minerals they contained ..something like that. But the narrator also that the gemstones did NOT have magical powers.

My mum now feels that this program is true. But programe I am think that believing that such things are considered "shirk" or "syirik".

May have I have some feedback or advice on this issue?

It is only Shirik when you believe that it can heal everything and you worship it.

You must understand how these magnetic stones work first.

In most cases, the reason it can heal many illness is because of the blood flow. If you position the stones in the different areas, it helps to rejuvenate the flow of your blood to that area of the body which have been stuck for very long or the blood vessels have been really weaken.

Due to insufficient blood which also carries the oxygen that part of the body or the overall body system does not function properly that is why a lot of people are prone to diseases.

That is also why people go for massages. To break the vessel points. In this case its almost similar.

The treatments may not work for everyone. If you do it for a healthy person, the results is different compare to a unhealthy old man.

Definitely it will have other properties and reasons as mention by eshmummy as the stones are created by Allah swt. Hence whatever you do you shouldn't treat the stone as GOD. That would ultimately lead to SHIRIK.
