Muslim Motivational Speaker

Do you know of any motivational speakers within the Muslim community in Singapore. I have always wanted to do this as a hobby. What would you recommend that I do ? Pursue ... if so how?

Salaam mehboob,

I'm not sure about muslim motivational speaker, but i can recomend you a much better workshop which i went for.
It's more powerful than being motivated, cos in my opinion motivation lasts only for a while before it dies of.

That workshop changed on how i see my life and everything in it, including work,/business, family, friends, religion, society, etc. Because it did that to me, it effected others as well when i talk to them about anything. This workshop makes anyone unstopable in anything they wanna do in life.

I've witness people for all walks of life taking up this workshop from 8y/o to a 90y/o something. It's just inspirational.

This workdshop is call 'Landmark Forum'.

I'll advise you to go for one of their special evening in Singapore to have a first hand experience on what this workshop actually is.

Here's a link to an introduction video of what this is. It covers everything that you might wanna know.

http://islamicvoice.com/camps....

Please check out this link and go through the testimonials received.

I attended this programme a few years back and recommended to others who all benefited and changed their life styles. He has left a great impact on professionals and women. The special quality of this workshop is that the content is all based on Quran and Shariah and its practical applications. The speaker is Editor of ISLAMIC VOICE magazine and conducts these workshops across many countries on a no-profit basis. He asks for only simple hotel and air tickets which he can not afford.

He also trains other speakers in replicating his commendable efforts.

I wish he is invited for a workshop in Australia , Singapore, Malaysia etc., by the Islamic Centers .

Wow! Zaman

I went through the link for this speaker.
Seems like this muslim speaker has done landmark education.

Everything on that website is totally from landmark education. (except the word Islam,Allah) Even the sitting arrangement, how the course is conducted and to the smallest details, the words he's using. I'm not sure if this guy has gone any training in Landmark but would be nice to ask him.

Actally i'm not surprise at all. Many people i met who are in action, inspiration, motivated and active in their communities taking all kinda actions have done Landmark whether it be muslim or not.

Landmark has transform people from all cultures, religion and background. For me as a Muslim, its like i totally understanding for the first time what the Quran is trying to teach us.

Is just amazing. I'm now Doing my SELP.
Self Expression and Leadership programme. Almost finishing in December. woohoo :D

Landmark is one of the things that all human being have to do in their lifetime. the good thing is it's done in different countries and in different languages. ( like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India and UAE is coming soon) even Hindi and i think they are training someone in Singapore to do it in Malay. sweeett.

Is there any sample of this speaker's workshop...oh hrmm.. i guess none. hah. Since it would be totally misconstrued in the media like it has always been.

Life itself. I have signed up for the Advanced Course in Jan 2008 as well as the seminar series. I will be sharing this with all brothers in Islam.

wow! congrats to malt and mehboob for having this great transformation in ur lives. i have done the forum and advanced courses myself, thanks to none other than sultana and her partner :)

i did my courses in melbourne and am currently assisting with them. i'm learning a great deal from the interactions i have with them, as well as the people around me of course. so much has opened up for me and i'm looking forward to more openings in my life as i head back to singapore at the end of the year insyAllah.

each time i assist, especially with the production team for the forum, i have people coming up to me and say that they appreciate me for being there. they appreciate the religion that i represent (since its obvious i'm a muslim cos i wear the hijab) and the person that i am. i feel really inspired and less "threatened" by them as they have shown a lot of love, acceptance and appreciation for who i am. it always leaves me smiling when people say such nice things to me. hehe.

so keep on inspiring, sharing and always be present to ur possibilities and the possibilities of the people around u! live and love your life!

Congrads to mehboob and evenyone who gave Landmark education a chance to create new transformation in our life and enhancing the quality of wht we already have. Even though we knew that our lives were perfect as it is.

I acknowledge those individual who took a chance on it despite having all those doubt in our heads. It took courage and trust in ourselves in taking a step into the unknown.

I also acknowledge masalle for volunteering in landmark. I was called today but one of the production team leader in assisting for this weekend event. It's a huge event where it's gonna be lead by the first Muslim landmark leader with another leader Cathy. It's the first ever event in Australia for a muslim forum leader to lead a forum an his possibility of conducting this edication in Jerusellem. It would be an awesome 3 days i'm sure..but i told her i wasn't interested in assisting. The hours i wasn;t ready to assist plus other commitment i have.

Assisting in Landmark is a huge commitment to be able to be there earlier than all the participants to make sure this forum happens smoothly. I just realize that they have to be there for 5 days instead of the participant 3 day. So masalle...i dono how you do it, waking up at 7.30am to assist on a weekend...but it's because of you and the rest who assist which makes landmark such a different environment to take up these workshops. Respects to you.

Have a few thoughts on this.

It is good people are benefiting from these courses. Everyone should attend some of these self-development / personality development / soft skill courses. They not only change the life style of participants but do leave an impact on the extended family and on their colleagues too. Real understanding of Islam and Sunnah has the same impact as we start practising what we learn. This is the link we need to examine.

As we attend more and more programs, we will find that there are lot of common threads but the style of presentation, follow up and the commitment of the presenter are the distinguishing features which leave a lasting impact. The core ideas are all quite similar but the presentation differs.

I attended quite a few in my professional career and some more for my personal development.

I would mention three who were quite interesting.

One: Prof Pon Elango ( www.inneruniverse.com) . Pon Elango is a humble teacher who is an expert on yoga, Nature therapy and professional development. During the course, the Professor regularly mentioned Islam in reference to benefits of fasting, sleeping postures, similarity of prayers with yoga postures etc., The humble personality of the speaker and his commitment stand out. Many of the participants have changed their life styles and gave up many bad habits like smoking, aggressive behaviour, negative outlook, stage fear, marital discord, family relations etc.,

Two: Dr. Sadathullah of www.islamicvoice.com was a interesting speaker who transformed many Muslim youth across many countries. He drew parallels between Quranic teaching and the modern management practices and soft skills as taught by Management gurus. Participants, specially married people and young Muslims have cried and confessed to many of their faults. They have shown results in better family relationships, on more concentration in prayers, on better professional behaviour, on committed community service etc., on the second day itself. He is a great motivator.

Three : Dr. Zakir Naik (www.irf.org) who is a famous Islamic Dawah speaker. In private also, he maintains a humble attitude and sticks to practising what he preaches. He can be looked at as a great Muslim motivator. Many of his speeches are available on the net and youtube. He is booked solid for two to three years ahead but concentrates only on comparative religion. I would recommend watching his videos at home.

I found a lot of interesting motivational speakers including Muslim men and women speakers. Check out the links given below.

Should we not encourage Muslim motivational speakers along with the others? One way is to attend the different events and adopt them for Muslim community and strengthen them.

can i give a different take on this issue?

now, i haven;t tried landmark, or many self-help programmes, nor read many self-help books for that matter, as i tend to walk past that section of the local bookstore...

however, as some of my mates on NB lounge already know, i'm pretty sceptical about this concept.

the reason is that, i don't know if you've all noticed, but this 'industry', or The Self-Help and Actualisation Movement (S.H.A.M. - lol, appropriately called) has become all the rage, in about the past 5-7 years...

It has boomed this time, and in this time, like some sort of trend, society is filled with scores of unhappy, depressed people, that need these programmes, books, tapes, videos, to get their lives back on track...

but do you all see that patter here - they are out to make a profit.

Do you really think, that if people considered themselves happy, or 'content', that this industry would be as rich as it is?

They're banking on keeping YOU unhappy.

So really, they're don't have your 'happiness' in mind, but aim to profit from your unhappiness, and make you believe that your inherently dependent on their views and opinions, to keep yourself 'on the right track.

Personally, i think it's disgusting and incredibly cynical.

Hi Ebonytigress..

I have read a few self help books and never been to one of these self help courses, personal training.

But i have done Landmark Forum and the advance and the SELP( self expression and leadership programme).

i can say for sure that Landmark is not a SELF improvement kinda stuff which you seemed to have an opinion about.

Landmark is not to 'fix' someone. To tell you the truth, self-help do not work coz it's coming from fixing us in the context that something is wrong with us or the world is wrong. Nothing is wrong with us or the human race.

There are good days and there are bad days..we learn how to get the life we want and deal with our life powefully and effectively. And not to get the crap in our life to stop us from doing what we want in our life.

For example...You are currently on a business meeting in another country. you need to take a plane to get to China for your other business meeting and something bad happened. Your laptop was stolen and so does your wallet and your passport, luggage, everything. cash credit card. You cannot speak the local language in the current country you are in now. How many of us will be stopped and not attend to the meeting you are scheduled for in China? Or how many of us will be stopped and have to reschedule the meeting again to another date if ur lucky to get it?

Here is the thing, nothing should stop you from going to that meeting in China at your schedule time. That is what landmark allows people to do. No matter what happens to you, you will be able to get what you want in life no matter what life throws at you.

That is probably an extreme version..how many of us feels constrain at work. We feel like our ideas are not heard? Get all pissed of when you boss said something else or tries to 'boss you around' or rejects your idea. We think that 'if only we have a different boss or colleague" our work life will change dramatically.

That is work..what about in our homes..in our family, dealing with our relatives, our marriage or relationship,(or getting a relationship) money issues..etc etc.

Imagine a life where you don't feel these constrains.? We get to do whatever we ever dream about. We get to be ourselves no matter who you are with.

This is not a feel good workshop. The commitment in the coaches and the leaders leading this course is unbelievable. Myself as a participant in landmark there is a commitment from us as participants to put our efforts in listening and then apply what you learn the tools provided for us. A lot of the self help stuff out there do not provide the tools we need but makes you feel that your life is crap after a while, and leave us no tools to deal with them.

I'm afraid Ebonytigress...since you have not taken landmark you will not be able to have that distinctions. :)
And look there are many negative things about Landmark out there, similarly in the light of many negative things there are out there about what people think about Islam. It's funny tho, i think us Muslim would know what it mean by misinterpretation by media.

People have been having lasting breakthrough after taking landmark, even after they have completed the curriculum after years! As long as they keep applying the distinctions. You will see immediate results.

Anywyas..i invite you to come to an introduction or one of the special night. i'll sure like you to come to mine as a guest. You wouldn't have to do anything but to listen. It's normal to be skeptical. You know what i told my husband when he wanted to register us. " You are wasting your money on this crap" This thing is crap and a sham anyways.nothing that i haven't known."
haha..

So yea..it's your choice and you are entitled to your opinions. I do invite you to register for landmark. I don't think that there's anything wrong with you, but i do know that you will get alot out of this education and cause transformation within your life and everyone around you.
