You will need anything between $3k to $5k a month to live in Singapore. Offcourse depending on how you want to rough it out, there even chaper options. Maybe, you want to live in with a Muslim family. We should try to start this concept of taking in fellow Muslims into our homes.

The cost of living is definitely cheaper than in Aus due to the currency. So I'm sure you will be able to live comfortably...Regarding jobs..that one is always competitive as you know the govt is looking for foreign talent..so if you do have it, im sure you will have no prob in looking for one...but seriously if I were you, I wouldnt want to stay here...cos its too stressful...i thought of migrating to malaysia and stay in kampung which is so much more peaceful...haha sorry off tangent.. :P

here are 2 links to cost of living in singapore. These are all estimation. Somehow i feel that the cost could be exaggerated and should be significantly lower. However, from what i could see, rental may be quite expensive, so you have to work it out.

As a local Single in singapore, you could go by with just 1k, but that is because you are not paying for your private medical bills, a car and rental or International schools if you have kids and thinking of sending them there.

Asian food cost lesser as well as compared to gourmet food, so that will make alot of difference in your expenses.
