Q. How do we define love in Islam ?

I got this question from a Christian on the topic on love. Towards his learning on Islam, he finds the word love "lacking"(according to him). As Muslims, how we define this word, in part of God, created beings and our relationships ?

I just read about this a few days ago...

Basically, there are 3 meaning of love...
Romantic love, unconditional love and spiritual love~

In Islam, spiritual love comes above all~ It's the love for Allah (SWT) that gives us guidance on making decisions and loving Him means following what He wants us to do in this life~ That is having Islam as our deen~

Then it comes unconditional love where you provide something without any condition, except to seek pleasure from Him~ Just like how we love our parents without asking for any returns...

Then the romantic love between a husband and wife... Mindfully, not bf/gf.. cause it's not permitted in Islam~ hee~

My thoughts about this topic is here in my blog... http://assalamualaikumpeace.bl...

This is just a summary~ I hope it can open up to more discussion~
=)
