hi all,
just a simple question. i understand the minimum mahr value in singapore is is $100. during the solemnisation, will the groom be required to show proof of the mahr/mas kahwin value (e.g. receipt of a gold ring, for example) to the kadhi? what if they do not have it with them? can the solemnisation still proceed?
The amount of dowry will be stated during the ijab, that means the payment will be made during the ijab and kabul.
If the mahr cannot be produced during the ceremony, it has to be stated as deferred payment during the ijab.
hi z, thanks very much for your reply! :)
oops sorry, just one more question..does that mean if my ring costs $100, the value will be mentioned during the ijab and kabul? or will the kadhi just say that mahr is a ring?
Someone correct me if Im wrong. I believe the amount of mahr will be done only during verification at ROMM prior to the nikah day. and during the nikah ceremony, only the mention of the item(if its a ring or bracelet to be given as mahr) will be mentioned. Doing mine in a month, will update. Inshallah.
hi!
during my nikah the kadi mentioned both the item and the amount of the mahr. he never once asked for the proof/receipt prior to, or during the ceremony.
