Many people are influenced to the idea that love means everything. Unfortunately, this could creates a sort of double polarity in it's meaning( for example, the terrorist, with all their horror and damage to our faith, unfortunately "loves" what they do to hurt/kill others sadly.)
Allah s.w.t (God) Himself knows such interpolations of such concept of love, and sets the condition on the meaning and purpose of the word love. For example Allah specifically revealed in the Quran how love for Allah means not to make partners and intercessor unto Him, being responsible and sincere Muslims, in helping the cause of the weak and poor, standing up to justice and from persecution, and being righteous parents, neighbors, workers, parents and children. [e.g. Quran 2:177,2:126,3:14]. Below are some beautiful verses of Allah regarding love.
"Say: "If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."[Quran: Ali Imran 3:21]
"And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect."[Quran: Ar-Rum 50:21]
"O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him...."[Quran: Al-Maeda 5:54]
Hence, in terms of marriage or relationship, we should consider love as a relationship in ways of conditions, rights and limits, as well as discovering differences and similarities, responsibilities and priorities .
