Q. Married in a hindu way - want to convert to Islam?

my boyfriend and i went to malaysia and married in hindu wedding just by tieing nupital string in temple.
He is a christian and i am a muslim

But now parents want him to convert to Islam and he is willing to but my parents want him to take off the nupital string and both of us have to convert to muslim.

my question is if we convert for our parents happiness and follow wad they want but without taking off the nupital string is it possible. my boyfriend is 18 and i am 20
what should we do?

in my opinion, its better for you to take off the nupital string..As Muslims our God is only one, Allah. There's no other God besides Him. and i think your marriage is not accepted (sah) in Islam.. as you married in a temple, following the Hindus.. Once you convert yourself into a Muslim, no use keeping the nupital string as it shows that you're still following the Hindus..

I think its better for both of you to convert into Muslims and have a discussion again with your family regarding your marriage as both are still young about this...

It doesn't matter what you did befoe as in the eyes of Islam, it was not a marriage in the first place. What you are planning to do is the right thing. You will now become husband and wife in the eyes of Islam. Ask Allah for guidance and do what you plan. Insya Allah, He is all forgiving.
