Q. Theory or Practice First ?

Which should comes first in your opinion for a Convert ? Should he just do and then seek knowledge or should he just learn and then do later ?

Assalam Alaikum,

Personal experience... Seek knowledge, be convinced by asking qns, finding authentic sources... Be convinced and do it~

Cause there are too many things in Islam that are mixed with culture~ And there are people who try to put their cultural practices into new reverts... And these practices might not even be in the islamic way~

Just my way of thinking~ =D

W'salam,
Khadijah C.

Salaam,

Unfortunately, I could not answer these questions, brother Mehboob. Different Muslims undergo different issues and considerations towards learning Islam. In history, we have seen the likes of Muslims who were touched and converted after one unique event/experience, while others became Muslim after years of researching, confirming and verifying what Islam is.

I am not a convert, but I can say by my personal development in appreciating and loving Islam came after reading, researching and verifying sources, even till now.

Hence, to approach Muslim and non-Muslims , in my recommendation, would not be arguably sensible if the answer to the question by Mehboob is reduced to single mono expression of what one (person) must do to learn and experience the revelation of Allah, or the teachings of Islam to mankind.

I hope insha-Allah, people do not find my words offending or judgmental (?). After all, as Muslims, we should always remind each other, and verify what was asked and acquired by sources, except what Allah has determined already His Will and His revelation to Rasulullah s.a.w.
