Alhamdulilah. Zikir is the remembrance of allah s.w.t. It can come in any form and start with the simplest of them all by just uttering your khalimah, lailaha illallah over and over again till it becomes part of you. Allah says he is closer to us then our jugular vein and insya allah, he will grant your wished as you draw closer to him. Ameen.

Salam,

I hope my answer is not too late.

Basically, as what Mehbooob said, Zikir is about remembering Allah.

to clarify things, Zikir is indeed a prayer. A prayer to glorify Allah etc.

Zikirs could be practiced anywhere, while driving, walking etc..

About the solat, you could do more solat after and/or before your daily prayers. this voluntary prayers is indeed very important as they will add to the good deeds that we have all obtained.

the most important voluntary prayers are bef subuh, aft/bef zuhur , aft maghrib and after isyak, making all 10 rakaats.

it is good if you were to complete your day (aft voluntary isyak prayers ) with witir prayers.

Start slowly but with a progress so that you could achieve more and could remember Allah daily Insya-allah.
