http://www.islamicarchitecture.../
anyone else who know more..please add in.
all the best.
can i just ask right... i've been wondering this for a while.
it's about the idea of relief organisations attching itself to a religious framework.
either, for example, the red cross, or the red crescent.
like... when someone asserts the notion of an 'islamic relief organisation', does that somehow imply that islamic ideals to humanitarian relief are applied?
or do they/should they only apply to muslims?
you hear of the justification for medical procedures in muslim countries applying to norms of 'islamic' behaviour... but, why should that be relevant in serious incidents of disasters, natural or man-made??
this concept can be applied to various orgs that attach itself to other religions, such a world vision, christian children's fund etc etc...
if these org's desire to help others, why should it be confined to only children or adults of a certain religion?
it just sounds exclusionary to me, and i don't believe any people(s) should be confined to aid in the context of ideology...
i do understand the idea of 'cultural sensitivity', but i still don't see that as a strong argument for dividing relief in the context of religion.
anyhow, it's great to volunteer and all. just some issues was thinking about.

Salam EbonyTigress,
Thanks for the response and you do bring up several good points for discussion.
Yes, I do realise Aid organizations do present a religious image.
One of the pioneers in this salvation work is the Red Cross. Their work is indeed noble and not restricted to religion or culture when applied.
Just like you mentioned, interestingly it has symbol itself with a Cross-.
Similarly, it is good to know that Islamic teaching constantly demands the act of charity from all Muslims towards all mankind and all living species of life on earth. And this act can be in various forms and demands tremendous sincerity.
I do agree with you that in helping the underprivileged should not have any boundaries.
As a believer of Islam, to me, it makes more sense for me to be a volunteer representing an Islamic organization for a simple reason that when it embarks to execute its assignment it follows to the best of its Islamic teaching.
Sadly, I have difficulty in finding one in Singapore.
Anyway, thank you once again in responding to me. From your reply, you do show you are a person of good heart. May the Almighty show us the way every moment.
salam Mousyteeth,
thanks for the various url links.
Actually I am seeking the establishment in Singapore.
It seems that there is not one, sadly.
anyway... looks like i have to keep on searching..

I desire to volunteer. To anyone who knows, please help me.
