Muslim bashing - The World's Favourite Hobby
If you take it from a point that we need to do dakwah to eveyone, then the individual's ignorance is obvious. We know the facts about Islam so don't let them draw you into a battle. Just show them the beutiful part of it and consistently, patiently portray Islam, & they too will be attracted to it, insya Allah.
I like your Question.
Anti- Islam or anti-muslim are on the rise through out the world. And they think they know what they are talking about.
But look, those are just stimulus reaction as far as humans are concern. Like you say, it's the in thing of todays time to be talking bad about Muslims. The sad thing to top it off is when Muslims reacts to that and get really worked up because of something ignorant they say, just to piss us off.
although after saying that, our Muslim people choose to behave in an irresponsible & stupid manner that allows these kinda attitude from the world. See, you can't fight fire with fire which is what Muslims around the world are doing. I just pray that they know that whatever they are doing isn't working. Hopefully we Msulims can come up with a better idea.
Like mehboob mention, don't be sucked into it. If you find that they need to be told of certain facts..just tell them the facts they need to know. the rest is up to them to find out the truth.
If they are the kinda people who are finding for the bad things about Islam, then no matter what you say, they will never see anything but bad.
I think Muslims should talk and discuss more about all the good things that Muslims are achieving around the world in this day and age. Let that be known in the media/news/ magazines.. rather than constant diverting our views onto the negative things.
But on the other hand there are also non-muslims who stands up for muslims.
Ever heard of george galloway. Amazing man.

Just posting to tell you that there's some good left in the world.
I feel the same anger when I hear someone condemning our religion as well. So I know where you're coming from.
But if we keep feeling like victims we probably can't get anything good out of it. Let's just continue with our faith and be the best muslims that we can.
Hi
I could not disagree with you on your post. When Propthet Muhammad p.b.u.h, Jesus the Messiah p.b.w.h or Prophet Moses p.b.w.h started preaching across their people, they received allegations and even death threats by their very people whom they preached to. And these great individual(s) preached very good values/teachings regarding humanity, yet receive nothing but criticism and sarcasm as their effort.
Hence it is not unusual to get bashing when you speak something or anything that is both just and fair to anyone wrong quite a number of times. This is natural because human qualities often speak otherwise, due to our own weaknessess. Religion is not an exception.
Lastly, 'bashing' of islam has been around for as long as Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h started preaching. Religion of Islan actually flexible, but as many centuries gones by since the death of our beloved prophet, many regulations, theology and law is passed so much that many muslims feel constraint by the muslim culture which is cultivated by our ancestors. No one is blamed for this matter, but I always feel that muslims are harder to open up in matters of religion as compared to other faiths. Over the years, I also started to realize that not may muslims are very good at interfaith dialogues, as muslims have very little knowledge on other religion. You must note that during Prophet Muhammad's time, the Arab Peninsula has many religion besides Islam such as Jews, Christians, polytheist and Zoroastrians. Tolerance is important, as well as knowledge of their faith as to avoid misinterpretations or misunderstanding which is embarrasing.
I end with a surah which, not to bash other faiths, but to remind others to respect the individual faiths in the religion
“Say: ‘O People of the Scripture! Do you disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in God, and the revelation that has come to us and that which came before (us), and because most of you are rebellious and disobedient?’” (Quran 5:59)

is it now some sort popular hobby to unfairly bash islam.. and Muslims?
While i don't deny there are issues within the muslim world and Islam itself.. that needs to be discussed, i think the critcism of this religion borders on ridiculousness to the extent where it's almost comical
i think that if you want to talk about islam then talk in a manner where you actually know what you're talkling about.. and not going by unsubstantiated accounts/rumour/ or even just plain falsities that suit your agenda.
sure there are many things to be critical of, but don't go overboard to the extent where you make YOURSELF feel better because you have some grudge against muslims.
and dont exploit the vulnerabilities of this religion to suit your argument.
i'm just tired of coming across idiots who have no idea wht they're talking about coz it's now 'cool' to be 'secular' and 'free'.
well. that was my rant for the day.
thanks very much.
