Salaam everyone,
Well hope we can get positive and informative opinions based on the questions below;
1) How do you think of people breaking fast with too many dishes or by over-spending ? It can of the opinion from urself, or from the Quran or hadith?
2) Is taraweh prayer(night prayer during ramadhan) a recommended practise by muslims? How about recital of quran, work and charity?
3) How do you find the muslims focusing in Hari Raya preparation rather than making more deeds during fasting month? I find the media and the culture seems to focus more on hari raya than the beauty of fasting month :(
Thank you for all your answers if any, in advance. Peace be upon u all :)
In my opinion, people who eat too much during iftar simply do not follow what is taught by the sunnah. They are just following the desires, not controlling it. Eating too much is a bad habit and to be avoided not only during Ramadan but also at all times. The question is which do you choose to be? If you choose to control your desire, then its the best for you. Just like we hear so often about the messages of healthy lifestyles and so on, but how many percentage of people take heed?
The Taraweh prayer is another great sunnah of our Prophet s.a.w. which he never missed to do during the month of Ramadan. I've received circulations listing the benefits of Taraweh from the first day one up to the last day, but I strongly doubt the authenticity of the source. I think the Taraweh prayer (if done with sincerity) has the power to strenghten more your iman and will power follow what is good and avoid what is bad. What was told is that those who practice the Taraweh prayer will be forgiven their sins and Allah will bestow freedom from Hell Fires.
I just have to share this with everyone it's such a crack up!! HAHAHA
A must watch!!

sorry, i didn't had the time to post my answers few days back.
but here's my 2 cents for the day.
1) My opinions about breaking fast with many dishes... I am disgusted by it. :D i went to a few of my friends's iftar and the whole floor was full of food cooked by the women in the house. My friends family was known to be under the 'religious' category. So i was quite suprised to see that which was wasted cos no one could eat that much. The women claimed to have slaved in the kitchen since the night before preparing and cooking. Personally i think that is just contradictory to doing as much ibadat as you can during the month n Ramadan. This goes to the common practice in Singapore where the ladies are busy baking cake and making 'kuih' ( traditional cookies). I think there should be some moderation if you wanna do these kinda things.
2) As far as i know Taraweeh is a recommended sunnah practice by Muslims since the time of the prophet. Everything you do during this month of Ramadan have additional reward. The rewards for the good deeds done in Ramadan are multiplied by a thousand. So don;t miss out on doing as many good stuff as you can as only Ramadan is the bonus month which will allow you to earn and save those bonus points!

3) Well, media do not know the speciality of Ramadan and it's significant which will makes a lot of difference to Muslim to earn those additional reward and inshallah gain entry to paradise. People who don't understand this just wanna make money out of the festive season. And sadly those who knows have somehow got into the trap of putting all their time, energy and money on celebrating Hari Raya.
Digging up the available hadith for reference (which seems to be a bad habit of me haha..) So far found in Hadith by Imam Malik Muwatta and here are some;
Book 006, Hadith Number 005.
-----------------------------
Section : Watching the Night in Prayer(Ramadhan).
Yahya related to me from Malik that Yazid ibn Ruman said, "The people used to watch the night in prayer during Ramadan for twenty-three rakas in the time of Umar ibn al-Khattab."
But seems that in Prophet Muhammad's time never seems to promote teraweh as obligatory based on the hadith by Malik below for some reasons;
Book 006, Hadith Number 001.
-----------------------------
Section : Stimulation of the Desire for Prayer in Ramadan.
."..the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed in the mosque one night and people prayed behind him. Then he prayed the next night and there were more people. Then they gathered on the third or fourth night and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not come out to them. In the morning, he said, "I saw what you were doing and the only thing that prevented me from coming out to you was that I feared that it would become obligatory (fard) for you." This happened in Ramadan.
Hmm..any opinions whether teraweh based on the hadith so far? I hope in finding more hadith regarding teraweh and it's benifits and it's obligatory...
Taraweeh is sunnah and not fard, the other practices you mention in your question are all good deeds rewardable by Allah SWT.
