Hi MDSG,

Tawhid is the meaning or concept of God’s unity and his existence that we have believed and grasp our faith in Him. This is through the concept of the Unity of God, being as the only divine existence worthy to worship and hence rejecting atheism, polytheism and disbelief in God. Such are the fundamentals for tawhid, and its aim to develop a spiritual and emotional bond with God in His existence and creation around us.

In the teachings of tawhid in religious classes, the generality of teaching usually starts from the human perceptiveness of the need and reason of a Divine being in all existence. The process of tawhid starts with the understanding through the reflection of mortal needs and weaknesses in human and to creation of life, social dependence or attachment to other humans or beings, or consciousness leads to the idea of a divine existence or being in question, through means of worshipping and mediation . The subject of tawhid eventually brings the divine book of Islam down to reasoning and explaining the human’s enlightenment and submission to a divine call and law, to perceive the concept of life which he should lived, love, understand and practice in this temporary world of life.

These are just some parts of the concept and fundamentals that is discussed and studied in the field of tawhid. The subject was aimed at developing a spiritual and enlightening sense or emotional attachment to God’s existence and creation, so as to understand Him and His relation to every of his creation, including us.

I am not a Muslim in this discipline, though I remember attending religious classes when I was in younger days. Tawhid is part of the curriculum, and is a much interesting subject, being lively and engaging subject, which involves more peep-to-peer communication and discussion with your religious teacher (ustaz or ustazah) during the class. Some of the concepts of tawhid are link below which I found in search engine for the convenience of those reading this post.

Hi MDSG,

I apologize if my post sounds confusing to you. I'm meaning that I'm not specialized in this discipline of tawhid. I am a Muslim of course, but not someone enough to be well versed in explaining one.

My sufi friend (anyway I am shafi'e), would be best to explain this stuff. I have no grudges or emnity to other sects or denominations of Muslims, as long the belief in Allah (God) is true and his messenger prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h is truth and practised according to the Quran.

Don't mind asking though, why are you asking on subject regarding Tawhid ? Are you a Singaporean and muslim?

Tauhid is very important, didnt realise it until recently, and yes, I am a muslim, and a local.

and concerning if someone is sufi or shafi'e, I can only but highlight this hadith.

--------------------------------------------------
Model Behavior of the Prophet (Kitab Al-Sunnah)
Dawud :: Book 40 : Hadith 4579
Narrated AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Jews were split up into seventy-one or seventy-two sects; and the Christians were split up into seventy one or seventy-two sects; and my community will be split up into seventy-three sects.

I found Tawheed is very interesting concept and that worked as one of major driving force for me to convert to Islam.

My understanding is that Islam demands that every (good) conduct must manifest to please Allah(SWT). For example, being kind to people is good conduct in general sense. Every religion demands it. However Islam put special emphasis on Niyat (intention). In short, we, muslim, need to do things with intention to please Allah(SWT) and not anybody else. We do things not (only) for fame, pride, money or any secular interest but to please Allah(SWT). For example, we go to mosque and pray not because parents tell you to do so or not because you want to give good impression to other brothers and sisters but to please allah.
