Are we there yet?

Are we there yet in knowledge ? Do we have enough knowledge on a certain subject matter before attempting to try answering it?

Does anyone have enough knowledge to answer any question with surety?

Do the authorities that deem scholars have 'enough' knowledge, themselves have enough knowledge to deem scholars with surety?

Do all scholars have enough knowledge and experience to answer and advise with certainty?

If people come to sites like this to ask things that they are rebuked for bringing up in the real world, why should we not attempt to help, support and answer to the best of our ability, and learn in the process from people like yourself who provide references and articles?

I believe that scholars and references must be consulted and quoted wherever possible, and when we do answer without them we should be honest and let it be known. Isn't is better to answer with the intention to help a brother or sister than to keep quiet.

Are we not answerable and responsible as a community?

So considering this, the real question is, as a community... Will we ever get there? :)

I believe we will. And things like this site make it possible.

P.S. Thanks for the link to that information. Learnt some new things there.

Scholars would be able to answer if the subject matter is something unique. General subject matters any muslim who knows their religion would be able to answer it.

I mean things like why you need to go to Haj or how many times are Muslims needed to pray....we can answer those questions. There are heaps of well known websites where you can ask fatwas for your unique situation too.

But that doesn't mean that you don't learn about your religion and deepen your knowledge about the beauty of Islam. Some Islamic rule don't need a scholar to answer it. I believe most of the situation we are experiencing in the Muslim world like women being abuse by their family and husband for example is the lack of knowledge in our religion and a mentality that Islam is so complicated that it takes a scholar to tell us what we need to do!

The fact is here, Scholars are human beings. Yea look people would justify that scholars knows more than we do..but for scholars to say that it's ok for men to rape women because she's not dressed proper, if there's no 4 witnesses the women who complained the rape will be punished instead and etc..i think we have to start thinking for ourselves at times. For whatever reason i'm not sure of, scholors are giving Fatwas that are horrific and in my opinion most of these scholars are in a higher place of authority who are getting status but to de-progresses the nation.

The scholars are still entangle about issues like power struggle over women rights and using their opinion to give out Fatwas.we are having a discussion about how haram it is to show a little bit of your hair in hijab, or how to pray in the proper way but there are bigger issues going on out there. People killing each other and oppression between men and women or between nations because we do not know our religion.

Islam teaches humanity, and taking stand and actions for that. The Imam or scholars somehow are teaching things that creates destruction in the society. These leader are keeping the Muslim society in the dark. Why are they not getting together and thinking of how to proof that the women is being rape rather than punishing her claiming the the shrariah said so? or what about the oppression in women why are they not taking a stand on that? or the war in iraq other Muslim world, why are they not educating the people the true teaching of islam which do not stand for abuse and oppression.

Are our Muslim leaders, scholars there to inspire leadership and protect humanity?? or are they there for their own benefit? to put us in the dark to give ruling based on their emotions, opinions, biology, fear and justifying everything that Muslims are doing. We do not have respect for ourself so don't aspect the world to respect us. We do not have a brain to think for ourself or even study the true Islam instead of swallowing everything that is being taught to us by our scholars and imams.

Here are some video link on what scholars gives fatwas on:

the problem is, some ppl without extensive knowledge of Quran and hadiths, will try to explain the meaning of an ayat.

Of course simple questions like how many rakaats to pray can be answered here, but the advice given for some questions here horrify me.

btw, there is such a thing as evil scholars. As you know, from the Quran, we are told of ppl selling their religion for cheap.
