Nice question...

I just typed an answer to this question somewhere else...

But I'll dot it again, Here's what i think....

<Randomly>

1. First of all I dont think there is such a thing as 'Islamic values'...OR at least I dont think that there's an agreed defenition over these values. The reason being is that each society would define them diferently...

1.a. Islam is a set of ideas that tries to organize humans in a collective or a society. So it's ultimate aim is to control humans and ensure thier survival as a collective. If that's the case then the term Islamic values is not fixed and subject to human social context.
As it might be defined in year x that value V1 ensures our survival, but later on as the environment changes for a reason or another, in year y socity might define value V1 to be irrelevent.

In that case if ISLAMIC values are dynamic, then they are compatible, in fact they are more off social context ideas.

2. If we are treating the values as being static ideas, that becomes part of "faith", which I define "faith" as the time when people stop questioning and result to ideas that might not be proven, in short to stop thinking and settle to accepting ideas as they are. Then they are not compatble with anything...

3. There's also the question of ISlamic values and other values and how can they co-exsist. Take for instance if we define the scarf as being part of the Ismalic value, how'd this co-exsist in a society that defined it as a negative value!

3.a. This imposes the question of can x-number of values co-exsist, and can mutlticuturalism as such exsist. The answer is NO..

It is relevant till the end of time... today, tomorrow and forever. The failure to interprete it is our main weakness.

So now we are in the modern world and Islam as we know it today is still alive and kicking. I'm a modern man - I drive a Hyundai Matrix, I use the computer everyday, I exercise regularly, I mix freely with people of all religions, I go to mosque regularly, I work hard but I do not play as hard.. :) Not that I don't want to but just I don't have the time to play hard. There are other things I need to do..:)

I find there's nothing wrong with the Islamic values here in the 21st century. The thing is if we are knowledgable enough about the religion, we can practice it anytime through adaptation of its values and teachings. Islam is a beautiful religion with beautiful values. It taught us to enjoy life within the allowable limits set by God and to do Ibadah to him as taught by the prophet Muhammad..
