Salam,

That question is such a loaded question, and it entails a great deal of conviction in faith and creed (iman and aqidah).

The Prophet (pbuh) warned us against asking and trying to visualise about things our minds would not be able to comprehend, for fear that each question will bring about a multitude of other questions, and that the enquirer will soon find himself engulfed in a flood of unsolved issues which may 1) bring him out of the fold of the religion, or 2) drive him mad. So similarly, I urge caution when asking about issues of Godliness, and in matters pertaining to Him.

But that being said, there are several indications in the Quran and Hadith about where God is, with respect to the believer, and I would like to share those here.

In the Quran it says,

"And God is the east and the west: and wherever you turn, there is God's countenance. Behold, God is infinite, all-knowing." 2:115

"And if My servants ask thee about Me - behold, I am near; I respond to the call of him who calls, whenever he calls unto Me; let them, then, respond unto Me, and believe in Me, so that they might follow the right way." 2:186

"Now, verily, it is We who have created man, and We know what his innermost self whispers within him: for We are closer to him than his jugular vein. " 50:16

"And Allah is with you, wherever you are." 57:25

In the Hadith, the definition of Ihsan is given as having the awareness that no matter what you do, Allah Sees that action, because He is with you.

And in another beautiful Hadith, Allah said, “My heaven cannot contain Me, neither can My earth. But the heart of My believing slave contains Me.”

So in short, by His own Majesty and Greatness, Allah is Omnipresent. He is everywhere.

Even more importantly, what are we going to do after knowing this? For it is sure that Allah is close to us, and Knows us intimately.

So...Are we properly prepared to meet our Lord and King?

Wassalam
