For the past weeks, I have got many contrasting views and answers on the discussion to the issue of the word "Allah" in Malaysia. From theological to socio-political perspective, how could that have an impact especially in Singapore, where like Malaysia our culture and religion is both wide and diverse at the same time?

I have read about the issues of the usage of "Allah" in Malaysia... And being away from home, I don't really know what my fellow singaporean are thinking... But I did have a discussion with my m'sian and Brunei friends over this~
We came to a conclusion that differences in the world resulted mostly from lack of knowledge and ignorance~ That is seeking knowledge is one of the main obligation being a muslim~ =)
I guess people, no matter where they are from, will have to understand that the word "Allah" is an arabic word, which means One God~
Arabia is a place on Earth, not a religion... Often, people equate arabs as muslims, which is not true... There are arab muslim, arab jews and arab christians~ Oh well, it's stated in the Qur'an too, isn't it?
"Allah" is a word used by muslim arabs, christian arabs and jewish arabs~ All these religion believes in One God, hence, the sharing of the world "Allah"... It's not only solely for muslim~
But sadly, people don't investigate before going into violence~
Islam is a peaceful religion and the Only one that all human being should follow because there's only One God~ Even though there are soOoo many translation of Qur'an in different languages, the basic language is still arabic~ And only the true meaning lies in the arabic language~
When I read the translated Qur'an, I feel it soOoo much that it's reading me, instead of me reading it~ But I found out, from the various talks from scholars, english language can only relate a small percentage of that feelings put through the arabic language...
That is why there are soOoo many westerners reverts who travel to middle east to study the language and the Qur'an~
Qur'an is not like the Injeel, which most people nowadays are reading the English version~ Being singaporean, we are mostly bilingual and we know when words are translated, it loses its meaning~
hee~
These are just what I have read and listen from online lectures of scholars...
