They are invented to reconcile the internal issues muslims have living in western countries...

i've noticed these terms aren't nearly as flung around much in muslim countries, compared to western nations with muslim minorities.

'progressive' entails, living islam in compatibility with modernity.

it is such enticing concept, aint it.

oh, you may be forgetting that embracing modernity means also embracing a system that i would view as increasingly unjust - and no, please do some research before you claim that is such a dramatic statement.

i'm not much of a fan of modernity, but i would admit that future generations of muslims will feel more and more alienated by 'old' stories of the former glory of this religion.

i guess we could glorifiy such achievement, but it really doesnt do much for the current situation muslims are faced with.

i think that's been done to death.

'moderate' - is a term of comfort passed around by those who are relieved to find muslims who can have a decent conversation with.

lol.

and... 'a muslim'

'just a muslim'

no no loool.... i think that doesn't exist!

i mean surely come on!! we can't be 'just muslims'??

we have to be something!

it's the quest for identity!

get with the program will you!
hahahah!

It is in the stories of Firauun that he used to rule by diving up the Ummah. This is what is ahppening now, the different clasees of Muslims to neutralize us.

Actually there's no such thing as profressive islam or moderate islam or whatever. Each is so hard to define. To me donning a hijab but not supporting terrorism may make me a 'moderate' muslim. But to some others, i may still NOT be moderate, since i still wear hijab. And if i pray 5 times per day, have a Masters Degree and drink alcohol & indulge in sex outside marriage, am i progressive?
