How do Muslims living in this day and age....
its have been difficult. as a muslim living in australia, after the incident we have been under the microscope under the media and as well as our daily activity by people living around us. peole who are ignorrant abt muslims view us as weird or something to ve fearful about. and those who knows about the religion are more acceptive of us.
on a brighter note, after 9-11 people are probably more aware of muslims and are qurious about us although they might hate us. eh..dono how hating us is a positive thingi here..but least it sparks some awareness.
there have been many more incidents post 9-11 that have affected our image in the media. there's been good and bad like sultana says.
more reverts, more exposure to extremists. more sales of the Quran :)
It also affected people who 'look' like muslims, as u may be aware, bearded and turban wearing sikh people were assaulted and there were some deaths too.
But as muslims interacting with people everyday, people may start off being wary, but once they know you, and see that we can very much contribute and be part of any society all the while practicing islam, they accept and befriend us. atleast the parts i've been in.
