Why pretend ?

Because of society and religion i suppose?
In my personal opinion, as humans we all have our perverse side. we do think of stealing, of crimes and sometimes even of killing others. out of nowhere, these thoughts might appear in our mind..and the most common are sexual thoughts or even words that we say in our mind like cursing and swearing others. i believe everyone goes through this but what makes us different is our ability to control and pretend. as Muslims we have to control these thoughts, feelings and desire..we pretend to be someone else so that society wont shun us. sometimes it can be very superficial but thats a fact about society that we are forced to live in. in some societies women cant work no matter how able or talented they are. isnt it pretending too...? if we dont live up the societies' expectations, we'll be like an outcast, alone, lonely and sometimes labelled as insane.. so do we actually have a choice?
