Hi Mehboob, I guess many. One of the best ways is to see the way people view Islam as a multi-ethic religion in Singapore. I'm bored speaking concerning islam and terrorism relationship, which are getting "blah blah day" by day, except for the peace and lives of everyone in SIngapore are to be protected and concerned :)
Islam, commonly if not generally, is viewed in Singapore a a "Malay's religion". Not suprisingly, as most of the muslim population in Singapore are the Malay- Indonesian abstracts races. Often the Indian muslims, chinese muslims and other muslim ethic minorities seems "opted out" of Islam in Singapore, which I feel greatly unfair. The problem worsens with the gap of misunderstanding between different madhabs(sectarians) theology and practise in Singapore, which is growing arguably annoying among the common muslims. I could remember when a malay muslim firend of mine explaining me how "more muslim" malays are compared to the chinese muslims in practise of Islamic religion. I smiled and reminded him that the chinese muslim been around much much much longer than the malay muslims, where the da'wa( preaching) of Islam reaching China only a few decades after Prophets time.
Though the end, I could be more proud to feel the oneneess in the muslim community in faith in faith and adherence, I wish the community could be "more". More activity and opportunity should given to the non-malay muslim community as a muslim community in Singapore. I don't think Islam should be viewed as a FMO( For-Malays-Only) religion in Singapore, rather as Islam for all races/culture . :) This is my opinion of course, may be different from others of course.
PS:Btw are there muslims orgnisations or community groups of non-malay muslim ethics/races in Singapore?
