i'm a muslim girl planning to go to Singapore for study commitment. i wonder if there is any halal hotel nearby national university singapore that is within walking distance? thanks...
There are many eating places from hawkers stalls, to fast food and so on near to National University of Singapore (NUS).
In fact NUS itself has halal food stalls for its students and staff..
So i think halal food is not a problem. In general you can find halal food stall in all housing estates including Macdonalds and KFC. Bedok, Geylang, Woodlands have a higher amounts of muslim population so there are more halal restaurants there too.
Halal kitchen in hotels I think include, Royal Plaza hotel, Rendevous hotel and so on but usually food there is very expensive.. And the the hotels located in Orchard..about 1 hour away from NUS.
In Orchard area itself there are food courts which do have some halal food, but I find that choices are more limited.
If you are staying long term in Singapore for studies..try renting a room in HDB flat..cheaper than staying in a hotel..
You can contact NUS Muslim Students' society - http://nusms.org.sg/. Insya Allah they will be able to guide you even more than just Halal matters.
