How much does a couple willing to pay for their wedding outfit, normally. Which is the better option, getting customised outfit, or use ready-made one from Mak Andam ?
How about getting your costumes from across the causeway, or even from Indonesia ?
Salaam Z,
It depend on the amount of outfits they want to change for their wedding. If its more than 2 pairs, its advisable to get ready made ones from Mak Andam. If they just want one pair for nikah and one pair for sanding, i think getting customised one is better.
Although its cheaper to get outfits from across the causeway, but i think its kind of troublesome unless you have relatives staying overseas that can assist you in getting your wedding outfits.
Money spend to go abroad to get your outfits can be better utilised for your wedding expenses locally.
Salaam z.
If I'm not wrong our dear friends from across the causeways have cheaper photography packages, and better sceneries. Not to mention printing your wedding invites in malaysia is also cheaper.
Also, well... weddings are once a lifetime. And this year is not a very good financial year.
Yes, gowns from the Mak Andam would be better, and it's how you carry the gown and the make up and the hair do that makes the difference...
Not too opera thick war paint I hope but more natural type of make up...
The type of songs, the DJ, who can either whip up the mood or spoil it.
Ah sorry for being too long winded...
Anyway, all the best for your big day z.

Thanks for the input. Interesting how Fir and Gerl12345 have totally opposing view on getting outfit from abroad.
For your info, I am asking not for myself. Mine was 13 lightyears ago.
I am doing some surveys for my wife, who is in the tailoring business.
Salaam z.
Hmm... why not ask for people to give suggestions for designs that are vogue or current and whys to spice it up. Accessories to bring out the character...
I know some amateur fashion designers would love to see their baby in actual material rather than paper...

Salaamz z,
I'll agree with Gerl12345. If you need more than 2-3 outfits then get a mak andam or wedding retailers package. or else opt for getting your own.
That was what i did for mine. i bought all of my wedding outfits coz it works out cheaper then getting from mak andam or wedding retailers. i tailored 2 of the dresses and bought another one. The plus point abt this is you get the dress that you want in your size the design of your dreams. etc etc...
One of the malay wedding dress i got it tailored at a chinese shop at Kampung Melayu , Geylang. I didn;t get it tailored as far off as the cause way. I would have if i had the time. The other plus point abt getting your own dress is that you can still wear it after the wedding. Mine is still alive and kicking. :)
All the best for your big day. Tell us your outcome and what you decide to do.
oh sorry i fougot to put in the pricing i paid for those dresses... each of them came to about an average of $150 SGD.
